There are also shops spread throughout to get some trinkets for the holidays. We had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Waffle + Waffle Fries! Amanda also grabbed a wine to wash down our waffle feast. Multiple food trucks (The Waffle Bus! One of my favorites in Houston) and beverage stations (wine, beer, pop/soda, water, hot drinks as well) are there to feed your appetite while you admire the Houston holiday lights. Can you recognize some of the iconic structures? It was like going on a tour of the world in one evening. We spent about 3 hours there viewing all of the spectacular lanterns and Houston holiday lights while capturing as many photos as possible. *Tip* Arrive to the Houston holiday lights festival early – The lights go on at 5:00 pm, so it is a great time to capture the lanterns with the sun setting in the background! Additionally the crowds are low so you get clear views of the displays. It is the largest lantern festival in the USA – how cool is that? It is a huge outdoor display of holiday lights and hand-made lanterns (inspired by Chinese lantern designs) to recreate the world’s landmarks and landscapes. We made our way over to the Sam Houston Race Park who is hosting the Magical Winter Lights: Houston Lantern Festival & Holiday Celebration. We were lucky to find a unique Houston holiday lights event that would capture the holiday spirit and fulfill our desire to find more lights! Recently, Space Center Houston announced the opening of their annual Galaxy Lights holiday display, from November 13 – January 2, billing it as “the most technologically advanced light display in Texas” – and that’s no hyperbole.After our botanical garden visit last week while in Pittsburgh, we decided to do a little research online to find a holiday light event in Houston. Galaxy of Lights at Space Center Houstonīut when it comes to the most Houston-centric lighting display, nothing says “Space City” more than the Galaxy Lights spectacle that orbits Space Center Houston. Wortham Theater: This year, the Fish Plaza at the Wortham Theatre will turn into Sugar Plum Plaza, and feature a variety of life-size holiday ornaments.ĩ.Plaza at Avenida: In addition to hosting a variety of live concerts over the course of the season, Plaza at Avenida will also display 30 gorgeously decorated trees in the Grand Holiday Window at the George R.Bagby Street: Find dazzling holiday light installations – including an 80-foot light tunnel – on Bagby Street from Lamar to Preston.Every Friday and Saturday, the big man will be making appearances at Main Street Square’s Santa’s Village and holiday market series. Main Street Square: Santa’s main hangout this year is going to be at Main Street Square.Market Square Park is bringing back the state’s biggest mistletoe installation for the holidays, suspended from a gigantic, 15-foot candy cane.
